Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei enhanced environmental management, Hebei galvanizing plants face shutdown storm

In recent years, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei have strengthened environmental protection inspection. The environmental protection law published earlier this year has launched “environmental storms” in many places in particular. Coincides with the release of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei integration development plan, steel mills and galvanized processing factories in Beijing, Hebei, Tianjin risk discontinued or face shutdown recently.

As main galvanized processing area in China, enterprises in Hebei were badly affected. How long will this environmental protection inspection last? Some companies estimated it will continue till May, some companies estimated the impact will last longer than that.

Hebei galvanized processing enterprises clustered in Baoding, Langfang, Bazhou, Renqiu, Hengshui and other places. Now, more than 20-30 Renqiu galvanized processing factories which mean almost 3000,000 tons output, only 5 of them possess environmental qualification and licenses. It is reported that the reformation of most enterprises which are ordered to stop production is not complete within government’s one month limitation, 80% of them are facing shutdown risk. Moreover, the majority of manufacturers in Anping, Hengshui and other areas was off line already.

Due to environmental management, galvanized processing plants (galvanized steel pipe factories) in Tianjin, especially daqiuzhuang, Jinghai and the surrounding area have been discontinued and the status will last till April 12.
